Types of Spiders:

Black Widow Spiders

Black widows are shiny black in color. Their bodies are 3 to 10mm in size. These pests are characterized by a red marking on the underside of their abdomen. Like most spiders, they prefer dark areas and can be found in basements and attics.

Brown Recluse Spiders

Brown Recluse Spiders vary in colors from yellow to tawny and sometimes dark brown. Unlike the Black Widow, these spiders do not have a marking on their abdomen. Mature spiders measure from 6 to 11 mm. According to scientists, their distinctive characteristic is the presence of a dark, violin-shaped mark on the dorsum of the arachnid's light brown cephalothorax.

Crab Spiders

Very much like their name, crab spiders resemble a crab. They have two large front legs that are used to grasp prey. Much like crabs, they scuttle sideways with their hind legs. It is worth noting that some crab spiders are capable of changing colors entirely. Typically, crab spiders do not infest indoors and prefer to remain outside.

Cellar Spiders

Cellar Spiders are either tan or gray in color. Cellar Spiders are classified into two groups: the long-bodied cellar, which is distinctive for their legs up to two inches long, and the short-bodied cellar spider, which has legs about ½ inch long. Their thin legs often have them confused with Harvestmen spiders.

Daddy Longlegs/Harvestmen

Harvestmen have a single body segment, eight legs with two pairs of legs. According to scientists, these critters are not spiders or even insects. These critters during the daytime can be spotted in shady areas, trees, under rocks, etc.

Garden Spiders

Garden spiders, as their name suggests, can be found outdoors and in gardens. These types of spider webs are strong and can reach more than 60 cm in diameter. Garden spiders are capable of spinning intricate structures. They are not aggressive and are not known to be medically important.

Ground Spiders

Ground spiders are red, gray, solid, or striped in coloring. They can be found dwelling beneath rocks, logs, and other objects on the ground. Ground spiders do not possess venom that should concern humans. These spiders seek homes as shelter in trying to escape the cold. When they come inside homes, they spend the day in dark, quiet places.

Funnel Web Spiders

Funnel Web Spiders earned their name due to their webs that have a flat surface for capturing prey. Generally, these spiders range in body size from ⅕ of an inch to ¾ of an inch. These spiders are brownish and grayish, and their bodies are covered in short hairs. Examining for horizontal webs on the surface of vegetation is a clear indication of their presence.

Hobo Spiders

Hobo Spiders are acknowledged for being aggressive spiders. Hobo Spiders range in color from different hues of brown. They can range from 11 to 14 mm in length. Its brown legs are solidly colored and unlike most spiders, do not have any markings on their abdomen. A hobo spider's distinctive characteristics cannot be witnessed through the naked eye and require meticulous attention.

Spinybacked Orb Weaver Spiders

Spinybacked Orb Weaver Spiders have obtained their name for having spines on their abdomen and their body shape that looks like that of a crab. These spiders have black legs, with an abdomen of yellow or white coloring, and sometimes their spines can be black or red. These creatures make woodlands, shrubs, or gardens their ideal habitats.
